Each year, 300,000 international students choose France to pursue higher education; with more than 100,000 from Africa alone. This makes France Europe’s largest non-English speaking host country and third largest globally, after the United States and the United Kingdom respectfully.
France Alumni South Africa, the first local France Alumni website in Africa, was launched during a reception held at the Alliance Française of Pretoria. Minister of Arts and Culture, Mr. Nathi Mthethwa and French Senator Mr. Robert Hue were among its attendees.
Ambassador Barbier encouraged alumni to register to the website as well as South African companies to partner with France Alumni.
M. Christof van der Merwe, Strate Design School Class of 2014, completed his studies on a French government scholarship. He is currently working for Alstom and provided some insight into his “French experience”.
